This is why I love hockey, just grown men going at it like savages. To all the people who will speak out against the barbaric nature of the sport, I must say, do your research. It is proven that fighting in professional hockey keeps the game safe, as a fight is less dangerous then someone getting ultra violent with the stick, or illegal hits would be, like in the case of Todd Bertuzi a couple years ago. People who would speak to the contrary of this would say "well no one fights in the playoffs, so there's no need for it in the regular season either." While this is true, its because players can not afford the five minute penalty in the playoffs, and can not afford to make a dumb play and seriously injure someone either. Fighting in hockey has been around as long as the sport has, and if you take it away, you take away a quarter of the people who watch hockey.
