Patriots Broncos Preview

Overview: Tim Tebow and the red-hot Denver Broncos are heading into New England this weekend to take on the 10-3 Patriots. Since Tim Tebow took over as quarterback he has lead the Broncos to a 7-1 record. While Tim Tebow has been outstanding the fourth quarter of games, it is really the defense that is carrying the load of the team. Nevertheless Tim Tebow is the player getting all of the attention going into the week.

Reality: While Tebow has been great in late game settings, all of his victories have come in low scoring games. Thus I find it vital for the Patriots to jump out to an early lead and attempt to turn the game into a shootout. Tebow does not have the ability or the weapons to put up thirty points, and thus the Patriots will easily win if they are able too. Additionally, while the Patriots are last in the league in defense they will match up well against the Broncos, as they will be able to cover there receivers, and there bend but don’t break style will make it extremely difficult for the Broncos to score touchdowns.

Key Players: For the Broncos their most underrated defensive player is Doomerville. If the Patriots are able to exploit the run oriented line backer, they will have a good chance at shredding apart the Broncos secondary. For the Patriots the key players are going to be the defensive ends Carter, and Cunningham. The zone read style offense that the Broncos run is predicated off trapping the defensive ends, and if Carter and Cunningham are unable to fight off blocks it could be a long day for the Patriots defense.

Prediction: The Broncos will likely come out strong defensively and I believe that the game will be a defensive stalemate through the first half with the Patriots leading 7-3 at halftime. However I believe Brady will captivate very effective scoring drives in the second half, and despite Tebows late efforts he will be intercepted multiple times and the Patriots will win 31-15.
